ERIN’S HOLIDAY (we were practising writing a recount in 'third person')
Erin and her family went to Paihia. When Erin went to Paihia she went on a bus to Cape Reinga, the tip of New Zealand. The bus was slow; it took three hours to get there and three hours back. It was a really long and boring bus trip. At Cape Reinga Erin saw an old lighthouse. She walked down a steep rocky hill. It was a windy day and Erin had to take her hat off so it didn’t blow away and hold her skirt down.
She saw the big open sea and strong, curled waves crashing onto the beach below. Erin felt happy and a little bit cold. She was excited to be with her brother and Grandad. Erin especially loved having her Grandad here in New Zealand. He came from South Africa three months ago to visit the family and to watch the Rugby World Cup.
At the end of the day, she was tired and hungry. On the way back, Erin, her brother and Grandad got fish and chips. They tasted salty, hot and delicious. The day was awesome.

Erin your story is beautiful! You all had a special holiday together, with lots of great memories. Your Grandad will definitvely love reading this.....I know he misses the 2 of you so much already!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mrs Penberthy for all your hard work and effort with Erin this year! You are a real gem to Pinehill!
I really can imagine that windy day. The phrase I like best is about the sea with strong, curled waves. Keep up your writing. Mrs Ward
